2008 Butler County Annual Photo Contest

The year has gone so fast! We hope you had time to take a lot of really good pictures and have the very best of them ready for the contest. Please keep in mind that this year the theme is "What do YOU do in Butler County." What activity do you enjoy?... Is it boating, fishing or cycling?... Is it attending festivals and fairs?  Maybe it's visiting a historic site.  What activity is special that you think people visiting should know about.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners ($500 for first, $250 for second, and $100 for third) and there will be three honorable mentions. Photos will be shown in our booth at the "Regatta at Lake Arthur", August 2 & 3.

Last day for submissions is June 20th.

Previous Contests

Photo Contest 2007
Forty four amateur photographers entered 108 images in last years' photo contest!
The subjects ranged from landscapes, agriculture and wildlife to historical sites and plenty of sunsets. 

The judging was really difficult... we narrowed down the images, we categorized images, we picked the top of each group, and then pulled the images together for the final judging.  We had a major bump in the road when it came to judging.  We received quite a few images in and around McConnell's Mill.  These images were disqualified because, as much as we would like it to be, McConnell's Mill is just over the line in Lawrence County. 

This year's winner is Lisa Taylor (who was an honorable mention last year) with her goat image.  Second place went to John Labreque with his agriculture shot of a foggy morning.  Third place was awarded to Arlene Conley and her image of the interior of Sample School.

Thank you to all the photographers that entered this years contest.

The entire collection of entries will be shown at the Regatta at Lake Arthur (August 4 & 5).
